Victorian Spiritualism Zoom Program 3: The Business of Mourning

Inspired by our popular Seances and Spiritualists tour, we have taken our show to the internet and expanded into a four part series, taking place every Friday in June at 11am AZ time.

Each talk will tackle a different facet of this fascinating subject — from the Fox Sisters to mediums and beyond — we will touch on it all over the course of this 4-part series!

In this session:
With the Civil War, high child mortality rates, and a plethora of diseases and afflictions, death was a consistent part of every day life during the Victorian Era. Led by the example of Queen Victoria, death and mourning became as much of a public act as a private one, resulting in fascinating rituals and traditions that can still be seen today.
