Celebrate women’s history Month at the Square!

Join us for Timeless Contributions: A Celebration of Women’s History Month at the Square on Saturday, March 8th! We have a fun-filled day planned with activities delving into the history of those who identified as women throughout Arizona history.

In addition to the “Sounds of Suffrage” theater event and the Women of the Square lecture, there will be lawn games, music, and an appearance by members of the Phoenix Historical Costuming Society.

Sounds of Suffrage

We are thrilled to host the debut of Sounds of Suffrage, a unique theatrical event inside the Rosson House Museum! The Suffrage Movement was a significant chapter of American history, with actions and events that would define the fight for equal rights and impact many different groups in the years to come.

Experience the songs, testimony, and ephemera from this period of history during these 20-minute performances from the Arizona Curriculum Theater. Travel throughout the Rosson House Museum while you listen to the songs and headlines that sparked a movement.

The Women of Heritage Square Lecture

Dive into the history of the enterprising women behind our historic city block! From the matriarchs of the Rosson House to the entrepreneurs who rented rooms out of their bungalows for extra income, Director of Visitor Engagement Sarah Matchette will delve into the incredible women who built the Square in this one-hour lecture.

Phoenix Historical Costuming Society

We are thrilled to welcome the Phoenix Historical Costuming Society to this event! They will be in the park sharing information about the society and showcasing their beautiful fashions!
