Mapping Early Phoenix with AZ Homeschool Adventures
April 16, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free – $4This field trip is a pilot for a new lesson plan. If you sign up, please be flexible if things don’t go smoothly!
This new field trip combines Early Phoenix history with map reading skills. We will tour three exhibit spaces each with hands-on elements.
- First, explore the 1895 Rosson House and see how people lived in Early Phoenix.
- Next, we’ll visit A Glimpse of Early Phoenix. Older students will work with the 400A.D. to 1912A.D. timeline while younger students explore old photographs.
- Finally, we get to the pilot program: Mapping in Early Phoenix. We will tour this exhibit using maps to understand how Arizona and Phoenix have changed over time. Following this activity, we would value your input on how to improve the lesson.
This field trip is designed for children ages 7 and up, but children of all ages are welcome.
